The Quest Compilation (WIP Mod)

The Quest Compilation is a mod I'm working on right now. It's a collection of fully voice-acted, interesting quests intended to enhance Skyrim gameplay and playability. If you'd like to learn more about it, keep reading.

The Basic Idea

The Quest Compilation is a collection of unique, fully voice-acted quests for Skyrim. Every quest was built with the intention to engage and matter to the player. As such, each one has a handwritten plot, carefully thought out characters, and - occasionally - uniquely textured rewards.

The Long Version

I was recently playing through Oblivion (The Elder Scrolls IV), when I realized how much better most of the quests in Oblivion were. There might have been less of them, but each one was unique and differed from the other. While Skyrim is undoubtedly a great game, the quest system is severely lacking. It’s essentially go there, kill it, and get your reward. And while it’s perfectly fine to have quests like that, the majority of Skyrim’s quests are those boring, linear ‘kill this’ or ‘fetch this’ quests.

The aim of this mod is not to replace the quests in Skyrim, but add to them, so you are more likely to encounter a quest in Skyrim that will draw you in and actually make you care about the outcome.

For each and every quest in this mod, I want there to be different results depending on the choices you made during the quest. This creates a dynamic that many of the Skyrim quests don’t have – one where your choices count for more than a few different lines of dialogue. Instead, they have ramifications, and far more important ones than slightly different rewards. NPCs will react differently to you, you could lose your chance at completing another quest, or start another one based on your actions. I have done everything within my power to make these quests as immersive as possible, so they seem like they belonged in the game from the start.
